The benefit of video over IP is that it takes advantage of structured network cabling, which is either already prevalent in the building or can be installed to provide a wide variety of services. Once on the network, video can be shared over a wide area to provide much more efficient utilization of security manpower.  Samsung Techwin's iPOLiS range of IP products is perfect for such installations and can even work seamlessly with traditional CCTV products via control equipment such as the SVR range of Digital Video Recorders (DVRs). The cameras and domes feature both BNC and Ethernet outputs so even if the facility is using standard coaxial cable for the time being, when it switches to structured cabling the investment in imaging equipment is safe. The whole installation can be viewed via a common platform and even viewed remotely and securely using Samsung Techwin's license-free SNM-128S Central Management System (CMS) software on a PC.  All Samsung cameras are ONVIF compatible, so you don’t have to worry about problems with integration into current or future systems because of proprietary protocols or interfaces.
